Eating With the View, Part II - The Northern Capital
We have seen the whole Moscow from the height of the birds’ flight, now it’s the best time to change the place and fly to Saint-Petersburg, choose the places with the best view, sit, eat and enjoy: gastronomically and aesthetically.
It is told that Aquarelle is the best restaurant with summer terrace in Saint-Pete. Nothing special, very simple – the terrace was made of adding the pontoon to the main restaurant and covering it with awning. After adding the floating terrace, the 3-storey fusion restaurant has become not only the trendy restaurant but also the source of pure pleasure. Those people who are in time to book the seat outside on the terrace have the chance to meditate for hours sitting and watching at the small waves, boats floating by and the statues of the Pushkin house. In a couple of minutes you can feel yourself being far away from the city, somewhere at the summer cottage, you can even put your legs out, take off your shoes and feel how the terrace slowly rocks as the ships are passing buy and the waves are moving the terrace. From such slow wavy moving many visitors get into trance, and even the peaceful and perfect service cannot wake you up from such a beautiful dream. So, it’s the best place for being lazy and for having the meals. The chef, Christofer Prizutti can offer you sate – special Tai-Indonesian shrimp, chicken or salmon grill with pineapples, coconut sauce or anything else according to your taste.
The other trendy place with the great summer verandah is Ginza restaurant. It is told to be the favorite place for the chosen few men of fashion. People usually come here to show themselves and to stare at the others. They fit in the cozy arm-chairs under the tents, the lounge atmosphere is all around, and you can read on their faces: “Thanks God, I am a VIP”. The cuisine here is one of the best in town. Along with the high quality Japanese classical cuisine, there are also offered the hits of the European cuisine, such as carpaccio, “Caesar” salad, Doras, etc. Also you can try some Uzbek and China dishes. Expensive, trendy, prestigious.
The most highly located summer terrace of Saint-Petersburg is situated on the narrow long balcony of “Moscow” restaurant on the 6th floor of Moscow hotel. And, it finally had to happen in Moscow restaurant: they invited the chef from Moscow Anatoly Stolyarov, who previously was the sushi-chef in luxurious VOGUE café in Moscow. Although the chef’s culinary creations are closer to fusion, during the last time there is the certain inclination to French and Italian cuisine. It is a bit windy on the terrace, but all the visitors are protected from the strong Baltic winds with the glass walls and ornamental plants. Like on most of the summer terraces, there are the cocktail bar and barbeque in Moscow restaurant. While waiting for the dessert to come, you can watch into the telescope on the famous Aurora cruiser, - in 1917 the salvo from Aurora was the sign to begin the storm of Zimniy palace.
