I Know What You Did This Summer
I had a dream: I was going out of my house and found out that summer was over. I woke up and saw the 31st of August on the calendar.
Summer is over. Quickly and unexpectedly.
All that we can do is to keep the memories in our minds, the photo pictures in our albums and the stories of our summer adventures on our lips. This summer is already the part of history.
I asked ten different people how they spent this summer. Here are some randomly selected stories.
Kate, 20 years old – went to see her mother in Estonia, then flied for a week to Croatia. There, in the airport of Dubrovnik, she met a French guy, who was the teacher of the mathematics. They decided to rent an apartment together to save the money. They rented a beautiful apartment in the heart of the old city. While exploring the surroundings, Kate found a beautiful solitary lagoon, the color of the water there was blue – turquoise. Kate fell in love with the lagoon.
Andrew, 29 years old – gave for rent his summer cottage, and bought himself the hi-end home cinema. He was spending the summer evenings, watching DVDs and listening to the music, absolutely impressed by the quality of the sound. When the dog was barking in the film, he thought that it was the dog outside, and when somebody was shouting outside, he thought that it was in the film. In the end of the summer he and 2 his friends went for vacation to the Crimea by car, the pearl of Ukraine, situated on the Black Sea.
Helen, 26 years old – in August joined her sister and the sister’s husband for the shop-tour to Greece. They lived in Khalkidhiki region (“the 3 fingers”). The tour was extremely cheap as her sister was planning to buy the furs for her small 2-years old daughters- twins. They also went for excursion to Meteory – the mountain monastery. The tour seemed to be boring to Helen, as previous year she spent her vacation traveling to Mongolia with the camp, riding on the horses, meeting the strange people – wild, dirty and happy. In Greece they lived in 5-star hotel, rented a car, ate in the restaurants, but she was bored and unhappy. She will never again go for the organized tour.
Carlo & Simonetta, 30 years old – first time in their life took vacation and stayed in their native city of Zurich without going somewhere far. They went to the Zurich Lake, which was so nice because half of the population of the city was on holidays. The whole city belonged to them, they ate in the restaurants in the evenings, drank wine outside the bar, sitting under the trees, which were covering them from the hot sun. Also, they went for the street parade, and felt absolute happiness with hundreds of other people – dancing and enjoying life.
Nastya, 22 years old – together with her boyfriend and their friend from Dresden, they went to the largest island of Estonia, Saaremaa. They rented bikes in Kuuresaare, and rode along the seashore, spending nights in the camp not far from the sea. They saw the sand deserted beaches with different unknown birds; they were on the edge of the crater, created by the fallen meteorite. They were climbing inside the old mills, wondering how they were invented. They rode on the narrow long peninsula, Saare, and saw the high black-and-white lighthouse. They have seen the homes of the swallows, built inside the rocks. Finally, when they were tired to ride their bicycles, they returned to Kuuresaare, and rented a car. With the car they went to different parts of the island. But this is the other side of their story...
Victoria, 29 years old – spent this summer, writing these stupid stories…
